"I'm beyond thrilled to announce a joint venture with the legendary Canadian metal band VOIVOD and Chaosmonger Studios! I’ll be working closely with the band to create a wild, immersive soundtrack for the highly anticipated video game, VOIVOD: The Nuclear Warrior.
As a fan for over 30 years, this is a dream come true. Killing Technology was actually the very first vinyl album I ever bought with my own money as a kid—so this truly feels like a full-circle moment." Yann

About
Born and raised in Quebec Canada during the neon-soaked glory of the 1980s, Yann Latour grew up glued to the screen, captivated by the larger-than-life spectacle of Hollywood blockbusters. Those formative years shaped a deep passion for film, sound, and visual storytelling—one that’s only grown stronger over time.
Now calling beautiful British Columbia home, Yann is a dedicated metalhead and multi-disciplinary artist with an insatiable love for music, architecture, and design. A bass player at heart, he’s also an accomplished guitarist and vocalist who never shies away from picking up a new instrument and pushing boundaries, crafting immersive soundscapes that are raw, emotional, and one-of-a-kind.
Yann’s game soundtracks have earned praise from players and critics alike. His work on ENCODYA was described by Games Freezer as "one of the most memorable," lauded for its ambient, melodic simplicity and ability to transport listeners into a “zen-like state.” The ENCODYA was nominated for 'Best Soundtrack' at the 2021Steam Awards.
For ULTREIA, he delivered over 80 minutes of moody, jazzy, and atmospheric compositions, rich with emotional depth and sonic detail, further showcasing his versatility and depth as a composer. "Gaming Boulevard & Nintendo Life both praised the game's soundtrack as 'beautiful, captivating, immersive, and enriching the game's emotional tone.'"

For the feature film PERMAFROST, directed by Lenni Uitto, Yann crafted an intimate and textural score that mirrors the film’s haunting post-apocalyptic, frozen wasteland. The idea of time-stretching both the footage and music during recording emerged very early on—right after reading the script. This concept became central to the creative process. By manipulating audio through analog tape, he developed a distinctive tonal character that felt as if everything was slowing down, freezing in real-time. The result is a soundtrack that resonates with the bleak stillness and emotional gravity of the film’s world.
Most recently, Yann composed the soundtrack for CACUMAN, a bold and experimental collaboration with director Sila Agavale. From their very first meeting, the two were perfectly in tune with the vision: the music needed to be daring, disruptive, and act as a full character in its own right. The score features a wild array of custom-built instruments, children’s toys, tape delays, vintage drum machines, noise boxes, and more—creating an unpredictable and visceral aural tapestry that shakes up expectations and elevates the entire film.
Whether scoring a dystopian world, a dreamy sci-fi adventure, or a surreal cinematic experience, Yann Latour continues to push creative boundaries—always chasing the next sound that speaks louder than words.
"Yann is a sonic alchemist. His Cyberpunk-tinged soundscapes brought depth and soul to every Film and Games we've worked on together."
- Nicola Piovesan, Film Director / Game Developer / Chaosmonger Studio CEO

CACUMAN is a post-apocalyptic, comedy indie feature shot "rogue" in the unforgiving Utah desert over four challenging years, amidst the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic. Seriously funny, delightfully goofy, wonderfully strange and backed by a totally WILD & QUIRKY soundtrack.

PERMAFROST is a beautifully crafted indie film by director Lenni Uitto—a haunting story of redemption set against the backdrop of a frozen, post-apocalyptic world. The film's atmosphere is deeply enhanced by it's intimate and textural soundtrack, developed through experimental techniques like time-stretching audio via analog tape machines. The result is a uniquely immersive soundscape that feels slowed, frozen—perfectly mirroring the film’s stark and desolate tone.

"Working with Yann is enlightening and exciting. He’s innovative and free-thinking, finding unexpected sounds that perfectly fit your film. On Permafrost, it was incredible watching the movie transform with the unique layers of art he added. He’s an amazing composer and artist."
